Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Microtask collects, why we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who we are
Microtask ("Microtask", "we", "us") runs microtask.ng, a platform where people earn money by completing small online tasks, and where businesses and individuals post tasks or hire workers directly. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and other laws that apply to us.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, username, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form).
- Profile: a profile photo if you add one.
- Phone number: if you add and verify one in Settings.
- Identity verification (KYC): your ID document (front and back), a selfie, nationality and address details, used to confirm who you are before you can withdraw.
- Payout details: the bank account details you add for withdrawals.
- Your work and content: task submissions and the files, links or videos you upload as proof, tasks you host, Direct Hire offers and the work you send, and messages you exchange with other users.
- Security settings: your authenticator app setup and passkeys. For passkeys we keep only the public key your device creates; your fingerprint or face data never leaves your device.
- AI features: what you type into AI Chat or "Write with AI".
Information created as you use Microtask
- Money and Gold records: your earnings, withdrawals, Gold balance, Gold purchases and the fees and transfers linked to them.
- Activity: the tasks you apply to and complete, approval decisions, people you follow, and notifications.
- Preferences: such as your display currency, notification and privacy settings.
- Technical data: a record of each time you log in (the time, your IP address and your browser and device type), and the information your browser sends with each request, which our servers may record in logs.
- Community activity: what you post, comment, like and send as Gold on Explore, and the groups you create or join.
Information from others
- If someone invites you with their referral link, we record that they referred you.
- Payment providers tell us whether a Gold purchase succeeded.
3. How we use it

We do not sell your personal data.
About your messages: messages between members are not end-to-end encrypted. MicroTAI checks them automatically as they are sent. Our authorised staff can read conversations, including messages that were held or had details hidden, when they review a report or investigate fraud, safety or a breach of our Terms. Every time staff open a conversation or an account's activity, it is recorded.
4. What other people can see
- Your public profile shows your name, username, photo, follower counts, tasks you've hosted and completed, and your earnings totals. You can hide your earnings in Settings → Privacy.
- Unless you hide your earnings, you may appear on the Top Earners list.
- If "Show me in Direct Hire" is on, you appear in the Direct Hire marketplace with your name, username, photo, verified badge, work stats and follower count. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy.
- When you submit work for a hosted task or a Direct Hire job, the host sees your submission and your name.
- People you message see your messages and your name.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal data only as needed to run Microtask, with service providers who handle it for us under our instructions:

We may also share information if the law requires it, to respond to valid requests from authorities, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger, sale or reorganisation of our business (in which case this policy would continue to apply).
Some of these providers are based outside Nigeria. When your data is transferred abroad, we rely on safeguards recognised by Nigerian data protection law, such as the provider's contractual commitments.
6. Cookies and storage
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in during a visit. Your browser may also store small things on your device, such as an unsent task draft or your theme choice, so the site works smoothly. We don't use advertising cookies. Pages load fonts and code from content delivery networks (such as Google Fonts, jsDelivr and cdnjs), which receive your IP address when they send these files.
7. How long we keep it
- We keep your account information while your account is open.
- When you delete your account in Settings, we delete your profile, photo, phone number, security settings, bank details and identity documents, and remove you from Direct Hire and Top Earners.
- We keep money and task records (such as earnings, withdrawals and Gold transactions) in a form no longer linked to your profile, for as long as needed for accounting, tax, fraud prevention and legal reasons.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
8. Keeping it safe
We protect your data with measures such as hashed passwords, encrypted connections, verification codes, authenticator apps and passkeys for withdrawals, and limited access to identity documents. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your codes private. Microtask will never ask for your password or a verification code by phone, message or email.
9. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you have the right to:
- be told how your data is used (this policy);
- get a copy of your personal data;
- have inaccurate data corrected (you can edit most details yourself in Settings);
- have your data deleted (you can delete your account in Settings), subject to records we must keep by law;
- restrict or object to certain uses, including direct marketing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it, without affecting earlier use; and
- complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
To use any of these rights, email us at paypocotask@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we aim to reply within 30 days.
10. Children
Microtask is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Microtask changes. We'll change the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are significant we'll let you know by email or on the site before they take effect.
